The Old Bazaar also known as Turkish Bazaar is a bazaar located in Skopje, N.Macedonia, situated on the eastern bank of the Vardar River, stretching from the Stone Bridge to the Bit-Pazar and from the Skopje Fortress to the Serava river.
Skopje’s Old Bazaar (Stara Čarši- ja) is one of the largest and most well-preserved bazaars in the Balkans, with origins dating back to the 12th century. This vibrant district is a cultural and historical heart of the city, filled with narrow winding streets, traditional Ottoman architecture, craft shops, and markets.
The area is home to historical mosques, such as the Mustafa Pasha Mosque, and Daut Pasha Amam, a former public bath now used as an art gallery. The Bazaar has retained its character over the centuries, blending a lively mix of old-world charm and modern-day commerce. It’s a fantastic place to shop for traditional crafts, local products, and enjoy Turkish coffee in one of the many cafes
