The European Commission has announced a 14 billion euro investment under the new Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2026 and 2027, strengthening Europe’s research and innovation leadership with a focus on climate neutrality, responsible AI and resilience.

• New cross cutting and horizontal calls addressing shared challenges across sectors
• 540 million euro for the Clean Industrial Deal to accelerate clean technology deployment
• 90 million euro for AI in Science to support trustworthy AI in materials, agriculture and health
• Over 210 million euro for the New European Bauhaus Facility to support sustainable and inclusive neighbourhood renewal
👉Supporting Researchers and Talent
The Work Programme expands opportunities across Europe’s scientific and innovation landscape:
• 50 million euro for MSCA fellowships
• 50 million euro for Research Infrastructures
• 240 million euro for ERA Chairs to attract top researchers to underperforming regions
It also strengthens innovation ecosystems through the European Startup and Scaleup Hubs.

Horizon Europe becomes easier to join and navigate:
• Work Programme is 33 percent shorter than the previous edition
• Less prescriptive content and clearer guidance
• More newcomer and SME friendly topics
• Wider use of lump sum funding
• Increased use of two stage evaluations and streamlined templates to reduce burden and shorten time to grant
